These are not good photos because I am neither a skilled photographer nor model; however, I wanted to follow-up with the topic of appropriate workwear. I went on QUITE the shopping spree, and I now have plenty of plain blouses. No one has said a word about my outfits in over a week. Cheers!
(I also bought an umbrella and two more white shirts that same day. Wow.)
And while we’re here, let me tell you about my weekend.
1) Tanabata
Technically the Star Festival is supposed to be in July, but Takaoka does it in August every year. There are tents selling food/drinks/etc. along the street, and people write their wishes for the year on colored slips of paper.
I made some new friends and drank sake from a cute tiny glass.
2) Toyama
After all the Tanabata festivities yesterday, I had planned to have a nice, relaxing day off today. I only left my apartment to run by the post office and buy a couple easy children’s books (I have to study Japanese somehow).
If you follow me on Snapchat, you know that this did not go according to plan.
On my way home, I ran into one of my students.
She asked me what I was up to today, and I didn’t want to say I was going home to watch Netflix, so I said, “I think I’m going to check out Toyama City.” We were at the train station, so I figured it seemed legit.
Since she’s a very kind lady, she offered to help me navigate the ticket machine.
Since I’m a very awkward person, I could not find the strength to admit that I was not actually going to Toyama City. I could not even manage to tell her that I could take care of it myself.
SO I let her help me buy a ticket, and I let her show me to the train platform, and I ended up going to Toyama City.
It wasn’t the relaxing Monday I intended to have, BUT I ended up having a great day. I went to the glass museum (Chihuly’s work, among others), saw Japan’s most beautiful Starbucks (in Kansui Park), and found myself shopping again (I didn’t buy anything, don’t worry).
Then, I got my friend to get dinner with me after work.
