This will be the quickest yet, since I didn’t take any pictures this weekend.
The week was a usual one, with the exception of it snowing quite a bit on Wednesday night. On the way to the gym, it was coming down heavily but only a few inches were on the ground. An hour later, it was almost up to my knees and high enough to pour into my boots with every step. Sad.
On Saturday night, my coworkers and Kazu and I went out to a Chinese restaurant and then a bar called El Barco where we ate French fries and a mini pizza. Lots of food, which was good to offset the 5 beers I drank.
The next morning, I met my coworker at the Nabe Festival. There were a bunch of different kinds of hot pot. I had one with shrimp and fish paste and one made with local wild boar. They were both delicious, and it’s really nice to warm up on a winter’s day.
After that, we headed to a new cafe (very stylish — the latte had a picture of Buddha in the milk foam, and the tiramisu was topped with gold flakes) and then attended a small local “concert”. It had more of a high school house party vibe, with only about 12 people watching a young man freestyle. He was very talented, though, and I regret not buying his CD…except that I have now machinery for playing CDs anyway, since my laptop doesn’t have a disk drive.
Today, I woke up a little early for a video chat with a few Atlanta and Seattle friends, then I mailed 18 letters (don’t get too excited; the lady gave only the vague estimate that they will arrive “in a very very long time”) and finally went to karaoke alone.
Thanks for reading! Catch you next week.
